Funny thing, a newborn's metabolism. Just back from the doc. Elizabeth actually lost an ounce since Monday. Steph and I think we may have actually overfed her. Seems if she gets too much liquid, her body burns so many calories processing it all that she actually loses weight. Crazy.
On the bright side, no more Gavage Tube! Monday night Elizabeth took it upon herself to take it out... and Dr. Liu said today that we didn't need to put it back in since she's been so willing to eat by mouth.
Steph and I will be keeping close track of how much she eats, and on Friday, we go back to see how she's doing weight wise. If she still hasn't gained, then we may have to mix in an additive to Steph's milk so that there are more calories in it.
First, Elizabeth has some steriods in the hospital. Now there's talk of additives to her food. Apparently Elizabeth's going to play baseball... **ba-dum-chhh**
