Elizabeth's oxygen saturation percentage is lower than they would like. She is hanging out in the mid 70s to lower 80s. They would much rather that number be in the mid 80s to low 90s. She is doing well in the grand scheme of things, but cannot really progress a lot until that number goes up.
The confusing part: every other number related how her heart and are doing is AWESOME. Everything (blood pressure, pH levels, amount of lactic acid, heart rate, etc.) except that one stat.
The docs and nurses are going to back track little by little thru all of the changes they made today to see what, if anything, can improve it.
I find myself getting antsy, wanting this fixed right now. My gut tells me we may actually have to... *gasp*... wait and be patient (nooooooo!).

Hang in there son. With those good doctors and God's Love, Elizabeth is going to beat this oxygen thing. We love you all.
They say "patience is a virtue". I think "they" never had a child in the hospital!
Thinking about the three of you all the time and wishing all the best! I can't imagine what you're going thru right now but truly believe the three of you will be even closer for having come thru all of this.
Before you know it Elizabeth will be at home and in your arms - exactly where she belongs.
that is the nature of carin for a neonat.....thing and waiting. even the nurses and the docs can do nothing but watch and wait....the baby, and, ultimately, the baby's Maker is in charge even when logic and the numbers tell us one thing.
