Update on Steph

Steph's surgery went very well and she and the baby are just fine. I spoke with the nurses' station this morning: Steph is still on some pain meds, but they are going to try to transition her to pain pills (instead of thru IV) around breakfast time. Looks like breakfast is going to be the test on whether or not she'll be able to go home today. If she can keep it down, we're set probably. If not, well, they're in no hurry. :-)

Steph's gallbladder

Steph's gallbladder symptoms have been getting worse. She has an appt this morning at 9:50 with the surgeon to discuss options. We originally had a follow up scheduled the 30th, but we couldn't wait that long. We're leaning towards getting it taken out soon.

Please pray for peace and wisdom. Update to come later today.

UPDATE: We went to the surgeon today. And without hesitating, he said let's do it.

So next Tuesday at 10:45am, Steph is scheduled to have her gallbladder taken out through the scope thing a ma bobber. They'll probably keep her overnight, just for observation's sake and then will send her home Wednesday morning.

Please pray for peace for her (and me) and that they would be able to stick with the scope and not have to go to the traditional method (which involves a large incision, etc.). Oh yeah, and that things would go as planned.

For the sake of official record keeping, Thursday May 11, 2006 3:20 pm -- the first time Steph saw Munchkin stand up on her own outside of her crib.

Doctor visits, nausea and life in general

Just wanted to give everybody an update on how Steph is doing with the second pregnancy and all. While she is definitely in the throws of enduring some rough 'morning, afternoon and night' sickness, we are thankful for a great new doctor. Dr Alan Fisher down at Portland Adventist. Cool guy, laid back, caring, thoughtful, experienced, willing to do whatever it takes in terms of getting Steph comfortable, willing to make referrals for pre natal echocardiograms even though he's only known us for five minutes. Yeah, a big thank you to Jason and Tobi for recommending him. Oh, and at the last appointment (yesterday), we got to hear Little One's heart beat. That's one healthy ticker.

In other news, had a big garage sale last weekend. God blessed it like crazy. People came out of the woodwork. Made a healthy amount of dinero and got rid of a bunch of stuff, including big furniture items. Which will prove most helpful when we move in a month. That's right, it's summer... and that means moving. :-)

Seriously though, we are moving to an apartment complex that's a five-ten minute from my work. Plus it's a smaller place which means less rent per month and an easier time corraling Munchkin.

Which brings me to my next topic: Elizabeth is fully mobile now. First it was an army crawl. That lasted a week or so until she learned that her knees can be used for locomotive endeavors. Now that she is in full swing with her knees, she seems to alternate between a pure "all fours" crawl and this kooky three legged kind of thing where she only uses one kneeand, with the other leg, she propels herself with her foot flat on the ground. I don't know how to describe it. It's hilarious to watch though. All that combined with her quickly mastering the art of standing up should lead to her walking soon. And when she gets walking, we'll have her start helping out around the house. :-)

Last thought for the night... okay, question really - what are some good, unique girl names? We've got a boy's name all picked out and ready to go, but we still haven't been able to think of a good girl name yet. Something unique or a more common name with a good history/story behind it. Ideas?
